Permaculture Principles - Creating a Warm Microclimate in Northern Ontario

$50.00

Spend 90 minutes with Rachelle Rocha, describing the principles of creating a warm microclimate to increase food production in a Northern Garden. Rachelle has studied permaculture for many years and ROCHAFARM has been putting many of the concepts into practice over the years. Inspired by Sepp Holzer, Joel Salatin and Alice Waters, you will learn about mixed plantings, seasons extension, hugelculture, using living windscreens, animals, rocks, fungus and mulch. The theory class will be conducted at Seasons Pharmacy and Culinaria on Tuesday April 2, and the Practical will occur at ROCHAFARM in Whitefish on April 3 and 4th.

The Theory Class is $50. The cost of the class will be refunded if you choose to volunteer at the farm on either or both days following.

Volunteering at the farm. If you have steel-toed boots, you will be able to participate more fully. Bring a hat, appropriate clothing and a water bottle. The project is to complete the terraced garden in two days. All materials will be provided. Participants will get the theory class for free, and I will provide a farm lunch and dinner on both dates. Any persons who work in the garden will be able to harvest some of the produce grown to bring home to eat, as the season progresses.
