Raising 2 kinds of chickens this year, classified as heritage breed, the Famous French Breed called Bresse Bleu, and crosses of Black Copper Marans and Easter Eggers. These breeds of chicken are raised mostly for meat, but still produce a lot of eggs for consumption. They display chicken-like characteristics of foraging for bugs and greens, roosting at nighttime and broody behaviour to hatch and raise their own chicks. These will have a taste and texture closer to what your more distant ancestors probably ate on their farms, smaller breasts, larger legs, firmer texture and stronger flavour. These are not typically available for purchase unless you know a farmer!

Sun run acres

Jim and Denise are raising 45 Cornish Rock meat breed of chickens on pasture, in chicken tractors that are moved to fresh grass daily. Farm dog and electric fence protection from predators!
