When you support a local farmer, this is what you are paying for
the cost to purchase young livestock, or support the breeding stock to generate your own piglets to grow out, plus all the costs associated with feed/bedding/vet if required - this is known as the farmer fee
the kill fee and disposal of carcass - all products sold at retail must occur at an accredited facility and supervised by a provincially licensed meat inspector
any costs associated with butchering. If you wish to butcher yourself, pick up will be either Friday November 29 or Saturday November 30 TBD. Otherwise, the Birch Lake Abattoir will be doing the cutting.
There is a custom cut sheet to complete at checkout.
The pick up date for pork will be around the first or second week of December at Seasons Pharmacy and Culinaria, 815 Lorne St. You will be notified of the final cost at pickup.
